Looks like MCC is evaluating bringing the Shuttle home a day early because of Hurricane Dean. Our plan had originally been to stay here in San Antonio until Sunday night, b/c a couple of days ago, the projected path had Dean hitting the peninsula on Sunday. We would then make the decision whether Amy and Stephen should just stay here, and I go get the house Hurricane-proofed and get another car over here.
Now, it's looking like we still won't have a clear idea from the weather folks about where Dean will hit, since they're now expecting landfall on the peninsula sometime in the early Tues morning timeframe. Something we'll have to watch very closely around here, but there's a good possibility that if (a) Dean takes it's sweet time getting to the US, and (2) it looks like it might hit the Texas coast, then we'll be doing quite a bit of driving in the next week.

By the way, it looks like my trip on Tues/Wed to Huntsville has been cancelled, since we'd then potentially be trying to get back home while a hurricane was hitting Galveston/Houston area. Of course, if the hurricane goes south and just stays in central america that would be good, even if it's a little anti-climactic.
