Update:

<>Amy took Stephen to the Ped on Monday. After watching the video and asking a lot of questions he agreed that, although some of the things Stephen was doing were “eye-catching”, that this is most-likely a behavioral thing. Stephen didn’t have to go in for an EEG, and we’re just putting up with it for now.

I did a search on the internet for other people’s experiences with this, and there seem to be other accounts where a child about his age (seems like typically it starts a little younger than he is) will develop a rocking motion when trying to get to sleep, but will outgrow it by ~18 mos.

Gavin has rocked himself in his sleep all his life. He doesn't do it much now, but sometimes he'll subconciously start rocking his leg back and forth while he's dozing off. Keeps me up!

Ah, he's got the jimmy-legs. I sometimes do that "falling" thing when I'm trying to go to sleep.

He does the jerking thing, too, but the leg is a rock. He says he used to do it with his whole body when he was a kid.
